Filling in knowledge gaps: Length–weight relations of 46 uncommon sharks and rays (Elasmobranchii) in the Mediterranean Sea

Large sharks and rays are generally understudied in the Mediterranean Sea, thus leading to a knowledge gap of basic biological characteristics that important fisheries management ecosystem modeling. Out 76 inhabiting length–weight relations (LWR) available for 28 (37%) them, usually common small-sized species not protected may be marketed. The aim presently reported study was fill through estimation LWR rare uncommon Sea using information from single records or few individuals. analysis based on Bayesian hierarchical method estimating fishes has been recently proposed data-deficient museum collections uses prior existing studies derive species-specific parameters by body form. use this applied here we report 46 ray species, 14 which first at global scale 21 Sea; remaining 11 time western eastern regions.
